Osiris Podcast Spotlight: Introducing Couch Report, 100 Episodes of ‘Road to Now’ and More

July 24, 2018

This week’s spotlight from the Osiris podcast network introduces a new series of videos following Phish’s summer tours, the 100th episode of Road to Now, a throwback to the Grateful Dead at Alpine Valley in the ’80s and more.

—When Phish hits the road, fans who can’t be there hit the couch! Catch up with what’s happened on tour so far with #CouchReport, hosted by Helping Friendly Podcast host RJ Bee and Under the Scales host (among other things) Tom Marshall. Couch Report goes live again this Wednesday before Phish’s San Francisco Show at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Join the party.

—Congratulations to the Road to Now crew on their 100th episode! Can nostalgia be a bad thing? Bob Crawford and Ben Sawyer—two students of history and humans in general—study that question against a backdrop of events occurring in our nation’s capital, and in this case, Helsinki.

—Staci Smith is a Deadhead on tour, and as such stops strangers just to shake their hands—and discuss the Grateful Dead. In Strangers Stopping Strangers 69th episode, that number resonates slightly with a joke shared early with her guest, sports writer Eric Edholm. We hear 1980’s Dead recordings from Alpine Valley in Wisconsin as Eric drops info-bombs about one of their favorite venues.

—Brian Brinkman and David Goldstein relentlessly try to make you a better music fan. In episode 39 of Beyond the Pond they succeed by playing an amazing Phish jam from a July 22, 2003 show, and recommending alternate music that is similar. Featured are songs by this podcast’s perennial favorite, The War on Drugs and three additional bands, The Stone Roses, The Hold Steady and Hot Chip.

As always, check out more great music podcasts over at Osiris, and follow them on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter for more podcast and event news.
