John Mayer has released the music video for his disco-infused single “New Light,” and you have to give him points for creativity.

As the Dead & Co. guitarist writes on Instagram, the slapdash, green-screen masterpiece emerged when “nobody could agree on a budget.” So he did what any famous musician would do: headed to Downtown LA and collaborated with a “company that usually does birthday and Bar Mitzvah videos.”

Musically speaking, if “New Light” isn’t your cup of tea, that’s totally fine. But can we all agree that this video should be inducted into the so-bad-it’s-good hall of fame? As it’s labeled on YouTube, “New Light” is the definition “premium content.”
