John Mayer and Steve Miller Help Billy Joel Thoroughly Rock Madison Square Garden

Billy Joel still knows how to throw one hell of a party as the piano man himself tore down Madison Square Garden last night with a show that featured appearances from Steve Miller as well as noted friend of Bob Weir, John Mayer. While the rest of New York was spraying champagne all over themselves as the Mets clinched the NL pennant, Joel celebrated in style.

Miller joined Joel for his tune, “The Joker,” which I’m contractually obligated to admit has also been covered by Umphrey’s McGee with Biz Markie. Mayer had himself a grand ol’ time, sitting in for a pair of tunes including “This is the Time” as well as “You May Be Right” during the encore. Joel called out Mayer’s name during “You May Be Right,” signaling a jam along with the sax player that eventually dipped into “Crossroads.”
