Here’s How Phish, Dead & Co, Mötley Crüe and More Rang in 2016

January 4, 2016

As you stumble through the first work week of the new year with the shame and stink of whatever you did on New Year’s Eve still present in the air, let this be but a friendly reminder of the good time that was on Thursday night as 2015 came to a close.

All across the country, bands helped usher in the new year with a countdown to midnight with thousands of their closest friends, who made the correct choice of passing on that lame house party with their friends/family they had to pretend to like for just one night. Bands like Phish, who turned “No Men in No Man’s Land” into a full on jam into the new year under the cover of an hourglass type figure. Or Dead & Company, who flew a giant joint across the venue to the theme of Star Wars as Bill Walton (as Father Time) waved it to the stage with a lightsaber.

The most emotional of them came at Mötley Crüe’s farewell gig, with the band wishing the crowd a happy new year as the clock hit midnight, and launching into their final tune–“Kickstart My Heart.” The band promised they would call it quits at midnight on New Year’s Eve, and they did just that to the Los Angeles faithful.

Below, watch a few selections from the midnight celebration to jog some of your more pleasant memories.
