Happy Shark Week: Umphrey’s McGee Kick Off Wild Tabernacle Show with Theme from ‘Jaws’

Rob Slater on July 8, 2015

On the eve of Super Bowl Sunday in 2010, just hours before the Saints would defeat the Colts, Umphrey’s McGee headlined the sold-out Tabernacle in Atlanta and delivered a performance for the ages. The show was so good, in fact, that the group produced a three-part documentary about the show with commentary from band and crew alike.

As you’ll see below in part one, the highlight of the night (according to Kevin Browning) was the opening notes of the show, the Jaws theme song played over the PA before the opening “JaJunk.” Since it’s Shark Week, officially, let’s revisit that beautiful night. The Jaws talk starts right around the four-minute mark.

You should also take a gander at parts two and three of this special rockumentary about a particularly insane night in Atlanta, one that bred two Halloween runs and two New Year’s runs in the coming years making The Tabernacle one of the premiere spots to see Umphrey’s McGee.
