Dave Matthews Band’s Lisbon Show Was Positively Insane

Lisbon, Portugal has a thing for Dave Matthews Band, despite the band only ever visiting there one time prior to their October 11 gig on this current fall tour. The last visit was in 2007, which ultimately turned into such a crazy night, the band put it out as part of their Live Trax series. Tom Morello showed up, there was a double encore and it was a much needed shot in the arm for a struggling group at the time in many ways.

So as they returned eight years later to the same venue, the group knew what to expect, so they did something a little special for the good people of Portugal. This would be the only stop on the tour with two electric sets, instead of either one acoustic and one electric or just one long electric. To close the first set, the band dipped into an energetic version of “Grey Street,” but that isn’t where it stopped. As the band left for the set break, the crowd remained, chanting the chorus line to the Busted Stuff cut. Drummer Carter Beauford, who recently celebrated his 58th birthday, stuck around to jam with the crowd’s chants while Matthews and other band members looked on. All in all, a pretty cool moment.
