Dave Grohl Plays “Blackbird” at The Oscars during ‘In Memoriam’ Segment for Bowie, Rickman, Nimoy and Others
Last night at The Oscars, not only did Leonardo DiCaprio take home his first award, but Dave Grohl made his Oscars debut as well with a special performance of “Blackbird” during the ‘In Memoriam’ segment that saw the Academy honor those in film and entertainment who passed away over the last year including David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Leonard Nimoy and many others.

Grohl also revisited with old pal Chris Connelly on the red carpet prior to the ceremony (Connelly spent 13 years with MTV in the 80s and 90s) and when asked what he thought about his first Oscars experience so far, Grohl joked, “Everyone is surprisingly sober.” Connelly then quipped, “You got here early.”
