Brendan Bayliss and Jake Cinninger Play Holiday Show at Park West (A Gallery)

December 15, 2014

Umphrey’s McGee guitarists Brendan Bayliss and Jake Cinninger held their annual Holiday Show at Park West in Chicago on Friday night. A benefit for the Mike Mirro Foundation, named after the band’s original drummer who passed away in January, the Holiday Show featured a wide variety of Umphrey’s McGee deep cuts, covers and staples such as a rare take on “You and You Alone,” with Brendan on the piano. Bayliss also covered The Beatles’ “Cry Baby Cry” on piano and the duo also offered up takes on “Memories of Home,” “Bullhead City,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon,” Nat King Cole’s “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” and more.

Throughout the show, Bayliss and Cinninger were joined by fellow UM bandmates Joel Cummins (who opened the show with a solo piano set) and Kris Myers as well as Holiday Show regulars Mike Racky and Michelle Hallman. Keith Griner shared some images from the show.
