Album Premiere: Bruce Katz’s ‘Solo Ride’

On Friday, Bruce Katz will release his 10th record and his first since winning the 2019 Blues Music Award for Best Acoustic Album (Journeys to the Heart of the Blues). The aptly titled Solo Ride finds Katz unaccompanied, behind a grand piano for 12 tunes, all but one of which are originals.  This is the first solo recording from Katz, who has toured with Gregg Allman, Ronnie Earl and Duke Robillard over the years, as well as leading his own Bruce Katz Band. He explains that the album, “allows me to express myself purely and directly – sitting at the piano with nothing else in the way. I love a whole range of American Roots music, and for this CD I wrote tunes that are based in Blues, New Orleans R&B, early Jazz, Gospel and Rock styles. It’s a full program of who I am musically.”

Today we offer the premiere stream of Solo Ride.
