Gwen Stefani, blink-182 to Headline Inaugural South Star Festival

In September, a new ‘90s-themed music festival is coming to Alabama. Scheduled for Sept. 28 & 29 at Huntsville’s John Hunt Park, South Star Festival will feature blink-182 and Gwen Stefani as headliners alongside an eclectic array of artists spanning eras and genres. South Star Festival’s 20-performer lineup and entertainment amenities promise a blast from the recent past all weekend long.

Beyond Stefani, Saturday’s event boasts energizing sets from beloved groups like Jane’s Addiction, Shinedown, Jimmy Eat World and TLC across the festival’s two stages. Further performances on Saturday include Juvenile and the 400 Degreez Band, Gin Blossoms, Candlebox, Dexter and The Moonrocks and Winona Fighter. Sunday’s schedule guarantees an equally star-studded show; singer-songwriter Beck and rapper Ludacris are slated to perform, and iconic throwback bands like Sublime and Goo Goo Dolls will make a highly anticipated return to the festival stage. Big Boi, Pete Yorn, Vanessa Carlton, Bully and Billy Allen + The Pollies are also playing Sunday’s lively event.

South Star Festival is just one of Huntsville’s many new arts and culture initiatives. While in town, festival-goers can also visit NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center or stop by South Star Sports Hall to watch football and grab a beer. “Year one of the South Star Festival boasts a mind-blowing array of superstar talent that is sure to appeal to a broad audience,” said Matt Mandrella, the City of Huntsville’s Music Officer, in a press release. “It’s an exciting time for music in Huntsville, and we look forward to welcoming music fans and visitors alike to John Hunt Park in September!”
